The students of class M4-3 embarked on a delightful outing to the nearby Fair Price supermarket on Tuesday, 17 September 2024. Accompanied by their form teacher, Ms. Sabrina Zakir, and supporting staff, this excursion was not just about gathering ingredients for their upcoming cooking lesson. It also provided a wonderful chance to foster independence, teamwork, and learn life skills directly.
Once they arrived at the supermarket, the students were divided into smaller groups, each equipped with a shopping list. With guidance, they navigated the aisles, selecting fresh fruits, spreads, and other essentials for their culinary project. The excitement grew as they interacted with the staff, queued up, and purchased their food, all the time ensuring they demonstrated good behaviors.
After finishing their shopping, the class headed to a nearby playground for some much-needed relaxation and fun. They enjoyed climbing, sliding, and playing together, which served as a great way to recharge before returning to school.
Once back in the classroom, the students wore their aprons and got busy. They prepared tasty sandwiches by spreading their chosen toppings on slices of bread and cutting up fresh fruits for a nutritious side. To top off their meal, they made refreshing Milo drinks, adding a special touch to their lunch.
This outing not only equipped the students with essential cooking skills but also highlighted the importance of collaboration and adaptability. It was a joyful mix of learning and leisure, emphasizing the value of independence and creativity in the kitchen. Under the teachers’ encouraging guidance, the trip became a memorable experience, boosting their confidence in both shopping and cooking as they prepared to thrive in their future endeavors.
