Buddies in Action: VJC and Maitri’s Fun-Filled Field Trip

On 30 January 2026, students from Victoria Junior College (VJC) visited Maitri School for an in-school field trip, where they thoughtfully planned and led a fun-filled programme for our M3 students. Each M3 student was paired with a VJC buddy who encouraged, guided, and celebrated their participation throughout the morning, fostering meaningful connections from the start.

The programme featured three engaging activity stations that quickly became highlights of the day.

At Station 1, students explored a “mystery” water bucket, giggling with excitement as they used touch alone to identify hidden objects.

At Station 2, students took on a picture-matching challenge, pointing, naming, and confidently placing images on the wall as they recognised familiar items.

Station 3 brought bursts of energy and laughter as students moved, jumped, and froze on cue, responding to simple, colour-coded commands of “Move,” “Jump,” and “Stop.”

The excitement continued at the mini obstacle course, which offered a series of playful physical challenges. Students hopped across squares, weaved through cones, ducked under or stepped over a string barrier, and concluded with a bean-bag toss to knock down a stack of cups. Cheers, high-fives, and smiles were exchanged freely between M3 students and their VJC buddies at every stage.

The programme concluded with a structured dance session, where M3 students followed simple movements alongside their buddies. With music playing, the hall came alive with coordinated steps, shared rhythm, and joyful laughter. Each M3 student was then presented with a certificate in recognition of their participation, effort, and courage in trying new activities.

More than a day of games, this in-school field trip was a meaningful opportunity for connection and mutual understanding. The VJC students demonstrated warmth, patience, and genuine care, while our M3 students responded with trust, enthusiasm, and friendship. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Victoria Junior College for co-creating this memorable experience and look forward to future collaborations that continue to strengthen these special bonds.
