Our History
In November 2019, Ministry of Education (MOE) announced that Metta Welfare Association (Metta) would be setting up a second Special Education School, Maitri School to provide education for students with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD), aged 7-18.
Co-locating with Maitri School, the Maitri Building will serve a continuum of supporting services for graduated students (Alumni).

School Vision: Maximising Potential, Transforming Lives
Maximising Potential
In line with our philosophy, we believe every child can learn and grow. Each student is unique, with different strengths, needs, and talents. Through purposeful programmes, individualised supports, and meaningful learning experiences, we seek to uncover and develop their abilities to help them achieve their full potential.
Transforming Lives
We aspire to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and their families. By equipping students with relevant skills, fostering independence, and creating positive learning experiences, we aim to empower them for life beyond school.
School Core Values: STARR
School Mission: We empower students to live better, learn continuously, and contribute meaningfully.
We believe that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Realising the full potential of each student requires a collective commitment from family, school, and community. Together, we create a safe and supportive environment that nurtures growth, strengthens learning, and promotes holistic development.
Guided by a person-centred approach, we recognise and build on each student’s unique strengths, talents, and aspirations. Through purposeful programmes and close collaboration with stakeholders, we equip our students with the skills for independent living and lifelong learning, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their families and the wider community.
