On August 8, 2024, Maitri School celebrated National Day with a lineup of festivities. It was a momentous occasion as all students and staff gathered in the school hall at level 3 to celebrate an event together for the very first time. The atmosphere was vibrant as students waited eagerly in anticipation of the performances, donning red and white attire, embodying the spirit of the occasion.
The festivities kicked off with a school-wide national day workout, where everyone moved to the rhythm of “Not Alone,” the official National Day song for 2024. The energy in the room was infectious as students and staff grooved together, united in the spirit of celebration and camaraderie.
During the celebration, we held a prize presentation to recognize students with outstanding artworks that they have done in class. In addition, we honored two talented student artists who had the privilege of representing Maitri School for the National Day Parade Tote Bag design. The celebration reached a prestigious moment when we displayed a collage photo capturing the presence of President Tharman, viewing the artwork of one of our student artists at the opening ceremony held at the MBS Convention Center. This ceremony marked the grand launch of all six designs representing the pillars of Singapore, infusing the occasion with a deep sense of honor and significance.
The festivities continued with lively sing-along sessions, where students enthusiastically clapped and danced along to the music. Interactive games added to the fun, with educational songs playing in the background to keep everyone engaged and entertained.
The celebration reached its peak with a mesmerizing dance performance by our talented staff members. Their flawless dance moves captivated and wowed everyone in attendance, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. Their dedication and passion for their performance shone through as they showcased their skills and entertained the crowd with their dynamic and captivating routine. The dance performance was a highlight of the event, showcasing the talent and creativity of the Maitri School community.
To top it off, we distributed traditional snacks that have been enjoyed in Singapore for many years. The students eagerly sampled the snacks, taking delight in experiencing a taste of nostalgia. Bringing their snacks back to the classroom, they savored each bite and shared in the joy of this special treat, creating lasting memories of the National Day celebration.
